- A SIEM collects security logs from across your estate, normalises them into one format, retains them, and runs correlation rules to identify suspicious patterns. SIEM as a Service means a provider operates all of that for you: collection, storage, retention policy, detection content and platform health. - How is this different from a managed SOC?
- SIEM as a Service operates the platform. A managed SOC also staffs the analysis. With SIEM as a Service your own IT or security team investigates what the platform raises. - How long is security log data retained?
- Retention is agreed per organisation at onboarding and enforced by lifecycle policy rather than left at a vendor default.
